[Ansteorra] Plywood Shield Blank Question

I use 1/4", with a 1" strip glued around the outside edge so that the
edges are 1/2" thick, both for strength and to keep the shield from
warping.  Then 1/2" aluminum channeling, which is eventually covered by
split garden hose or leather.  I find this gives me a lighter and still
perfectly serviceable shield.
