Greetings unto the Artisans of Ansteorra!
I would like to see some specific hands-on classes to be offered at
Gulf Wars this year, and am searching for potential teachers or
artisans willing to demonstrate their craft. As the coordinator for
the Textiles-Wet, I am particularly seeking other "wet textile"
classes, beyond dyeing. For instance: soap-making, felting,
papermaking, paper marbling, basketweaving, dyeing feathers, making
lye, making glue (period duct-tape!), etc... Artisan's Row has a
variety of different areas.
Background:
Artisan's Row is a place for Artisans to gather in order to practice
their arts and teach others via demonstrations and small group hands-
on instruction. It is also a great way for artisans to network and
learn from other each other. We look for Artisans who love to
provide others the opportunity to use their tools and equipment to
learn how to make something, as they would have done it in the Middle
Ages.
*Note: We do not abhor all modern tools, and we encourage modern
safety adaptations - but we do prefer to encourage the exploration of
medieval methods and results.
If you would like to teach one of these classes, or have another
hands-on class you would like to teach, please send me the following
info. (Note if you are interested teaching at our new series of
evening classes - planned for scholar/fighters who would love to
attend a class after the battles are over.)
Standard Class info:
- Class title
- Your SCA name with title
- Description of the class
- Prerequisites
- Class length/size/cost/age limits
- Special Site/Setup Needs
- Best times to teach (please be flexible)
- Phone # & email address, so I can contact you, to coordinate.
The War is nearly upon us, and the publication date is practically
here, so don't delay!
In Service,
