The  Barony of Bjornsborg presents 
Academy of Defense 
February  29 – March 2, 2008 

The  Master of England, Master of Italy, Master of Germany and the Mistress 
of Spain  do summon all rapier fighters to join them in a day of contests to 
prove who is  the greatest in the world. 

The  Masters and Mistress also invite all Artisans to display their static 
works or  performance pieces from one of the four countries being  represented. 

Both  Combatants and Artisans will be competing for the coveted title of 
Provost of  the Academy of Bjornsborg. 

A  Luncheon Feast will be prepared by Baroness Suzanne, and will include 
dishes  from the four countries. 

Italy: Chicken with  fennel
Germany: Potato cakes  
Spain: Stuffed  Eggs
England: Chireseyes (Cherry pottage) and Fine Cakes

For those that camp or stay on site there will be  a pot luck dinner based on 
rank.
If your highest award is:
 
non-armigerous = appetizer
AoA = side dish
Grant = dessert
Peer = entree

Schedule of  events 
Friday: 
Site opens  at 5pm 

Saturday: 
Armor inspection and A&S set up 8:30 
Opening court 9:30 with tourney starting  after 
Lunch Break 12:30 (A&S judging) 
Tourney Restarts 1:30 
Evening Court 5:00 
Potluck Dinner after Court. 

Sunday 
Site closes at 12:00 (noon) 

There will be a silent auction of goods  of all types. 
Calling all Bargain Hunters!  There will be a silent  auction at 
Bjornsborg's Academy of Defense III.  Many wonderful items  have been 
donated and all proceeds will benefit the Barony of  Bjornsborg.  We have 
hand crafted wooden boxes, garb, display weapons,  and even a few items 
for armored combat!  A "buy it now" option will be  in effect.  This 
means that if no bids have been made on an item, it  may be immediately 
purchased for the "buy it now" price.  Once bidding  has commenced, the 
"buy it now" option is off the table.  There will  also be a $1 table for 
the smaller items and trinkets. 


Site  opens at 5  p.m. on Friday, and closes at 12:00  p.m. Sunday. Minors 
must be  accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. They may also attend with a 
21 year  or older adult with a signed and notarized Minor Event Waiver Form 
from the  parents. 

Site  fee:  $10.00 Adults, $9.00 Children 6-17, Free  for children 5 and 
under.  $30.00  Family Maximum.  ACCEPS is  open. Please take advantage of this  
option. 
Feast  fee:  $5.00   
Make checks payable to: SCA Inc./Barony of  Bjornsborg.  
Directions to Nolte Island Park:  Take your best route to IH-10 in Seguin, 
TX.  Take exit  610 toward TX-123/San Marcos/Stockdale.  Turn south towards 
Seguin.  Turn left  onto Eastwood Drive/FM 466.  Site  will be on your right after 
about 2 miles.
