But they should, according to mundane law. And the whole thing would be solved if added a line of text that said, 'Membership benefits may be different in each area. Please contact a local officer for a list of membership benefits in your area before purchasing a membership.". It' not like they don't realize that different areas have different rules. They mention some rules for other areas, like being able to receive an award (not applicable here) or hold office (is applicable here).

The problem with that is that the rule causing only
sustaining/subscribing members to be counted for group status is at
Kingdom level. The people who run the website and SCA literature are at
the corporate level, and at that level all members do count towards
group status. There may or may not be other kingdoms who do the same as
us, but corporate doesn't make notations of every variance that each
kingdom applies to their Kingdom Laws.
