area.

Below is a Special Weather Statement:

Statement as of 5:30 AM CST on January 23, 2008

... More wintery precipitation possible Thursday night and Friday...

After a cold start this morning... temperatures will warm into the 40s in
most areas before a reinforcing surge of cold air sweeps into the Southern
Plains this afternoon and evening. By early Thursday
morning temperatures will range from the single digits in northwest Oklahoma
to near 20 in western North Texas. The cold air will remain in place
Thursday with high temperatures only reaching the 30s.

As an upper level disturbance approaches the area from the southwestern U.S.
Light wintery precipitation is expected to develop over western North Texas
Thursday night... then spread northeastward into Oklahoma late Thursday
night and early Friday morning.

The precipitation is expected to begin as freezing rain and sleet in western
North Texas and southern Oklahoma with mainly sleet and snow in central and
northern Oklahoma. Temperatures are expected to warm a bit on Friday which
may allow for a gradual transition to light rain from south to north during
the day. The precipitation is expected to end by Friday evening.

At this time... a strong winter storm does not appear likely... but light to
moderate accumulation of ice or snow may cause disruptions to travel... at
least on a local basis. People traveling Thursday
night and Friday morning should be prepared for the possibility of winter
driving conditions and monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this
developing weather system.
