[Ansteorra] comments on Western Region problem

HERE! HERE!

We in the kingdom lands formerly known as Middleford have been dealing with this
problem. Populace meetings and practices on weeknights are not practical for
military personnel with our cracked up schedules. We are looking at making
some of the fighter practices in nearby areas on the weekend (I believe Emerald
Keep hosts Sunday practice), but that would really be hit or miss. The worst
for us is that most of us trying to play here now were not even in the country
when this went on (half of us were in Germany) and most of the others are new to
the Society. So far in 7 months in this kingdom, I have seen 2 shires disbanded
for various reasons and now an entire region. Local groups really are the
lifeblood of the Society and yet we are told we wouldn't stand a chance of even
establishing a Stronghold.

That being said, the idea of video-teleconferencing for us in the outlying areas
would keep us out here in the loop. We used to do all our work on the internet
in Drachenwald and I see no reason it couldn't work here.

I and my family will still be making events as time and money permit and we have
no problem making 4-6 hour drives, and I hope we meet some of you out there.

This is one of the reasons folx from Killeen have such a hard time
getting to the "local" fighter practices. My husband, Ionnes, gets up
at 0500 to get to PT, and works until 1700 or later most days.
Carpooling is an option, sometimes, but most of the guys we could ride
with have the same schedule.
