Master Robert, friend, brother...

She probably doesn't know that a region is just an administrative district...
she probably came in after the districts were established and
like most people... just didn't think about it further...

Remember also dear brother, that the Western Region has spent many years developing an identity of it's own... to keep people motivated and connected and to provide a support base so that people would travel beyond it's borders and interact with the kingdom at large and for the kingdom at wars...

I understand her grief... but I don't think she realizes that loosing status is not loosing what she is in the SCA for...

I believe she doesn't realize that the people are not gone... just the structure is changing...to better accommodate the official "structure" requirements so that the people can still be part of the organization and not have to struggle to meet so many "requirements"...

But then again... people in grief very rarely are able to look outside their emotional pain...

and we both know... that very few of the people in the SCA really understand the workings of the SCA... they want it to be a vision, a game, a dream... and are emotionally tied to that...

they lack the capability of understanding the layers and scope and how everything interconnects to keep the organization going so that they can maintain their vision, game, dream...

All they see is "The Dream" and when what they see no longer fits their vision...
they get angry...and upset... cause someone spoiled "their dream"...
when what they saw in the first place...
was just a vision...
a mere facet of the reality...
not the whole reality...not even multiple facets of the reality...

sometimes I wish I could have that Dream again...
no matter how false it was...or juvenile it was...
that "one big happy family" feeling...
that "everyone truly was looking out for each other"
that "the Crown always knows what is right"
that "a Knight is honest, faithful, loyal, and sane"
that " the SCA is a safe place"

I've done a bit of grieving of my own... ;)
and soul searching... ;)

tools of the kingdom and have no standing within the
SCA? They were created to attempt to streamline
paperwork and related items. As for distances, there
are baronies in Lochac that cover an area probably
bigger than our kingdom(Look at their kingdom amp and
check out the barony in central Aust. and the one
covering the western area), somehow they handle the
distances-maybe we can learn something from them.
