[Ansteorra] hoop petticoat

I have witnessed two women with new hoop skirts at a Ren Faire (you see
everything up to and including Klingons at some of them) try to sit on the
edge of a small stage. Both created an orchestra shell with their hoops. One
had all the appropriate undergarments and was modest by modern standards.
The other was bereft of undergarments (it was about 100 degrees F and she
was trying to keep cooler) and was much embarrassed.

She's right. You have to tuck the hoop ever so carefully so when you sit it

doesn't pop over your head. Thankfully it did not happen in public and I
was in Junior High School so it was just a one hoop petticoat.
