[Ansteorra] "Freaking the Mundanes"

I don't know how much time the spend on it in high school, but I know that in the middle schools I sub in, only a couple of weeks is spent on our period in Europe. It's kind of frightening actually. Everything is covered in the World Geog class and Europe is given about 6 weeks, most of it in Modern and Contemporary(post 1900) history, economics and politics. They get a little bit of Late Period with U.S. History in the age of Exploration and Colonial period, but I would gusess that a majority of kids entering high school have little to no understanding of almost anything that happened from pre-history to the mid 1600s Europe. If you say Magna Carta, I would guess that some might think that it rings a bell, but they don't know what it is. They probably have more knowledge of Robin Hood than of Henry II or Eleanor of Aquitaine and would have no clue about Henry V unless they read Shakespeare. I doubt that any would know who Charlemagne was. Sad, but true.
