I would like to add that there is no protection for a region in our system. If the Crown decided to dissolve the Northern region tomorrow it would have the right. Also there are little protection for shires or Cantons. A principality would give your area some protection and extra layer of bureaucracy that would have to gone through. This is one time I think bureaucracy is good. 
My only suggestion is to change the name. As a Bard I have tried to fit Norderras into poems and songs I can make it fit. A name should be a standard to gather around. It should be unique and it needs to scan.
