There is an Urban myth that the movie was done in the atom bomb testing site and everyone who worked on it died. John Wayne was one on them that  lived the longest. It could not be proved in a court of Law but it is thought that the high rate of cancer came from being exposed to the radiations. Howard Huges produced the movie.
