I'm a little unclear on whether you already know what the tartans in 
which you are interested look like or not.  If you're trying to figure 
that out, the Scottish Tartan Authority 
<http://www.tartansauthority.com/Web/Site/home/home.asp> is the place 
to go.  Their Tartan Ferret will allow you to search by name, color, 
pattern, and a variety of other characteristics and return color images 
of the various tartans that match your parameters.

The Scottish Tartans Museum site 
<http://www.scottishtartans.org/iti.html> has a gift shop from which 
one can purchase many traditional tartans.  If you know the numbers or 
names of the tartans you want, you can probably find other vendors 
using any search engine.
