[Ansteorra] ISO...

Alas, my employer (Uncle Sam) has made it clear that I am not to obtain, produce, or consume alcohol of any type while deployed.  And since I would like to have it available when we get back, I will have to rely on the assistance of my Society brethren.

On the other hand, I have always wanted to try my hand at making mead so I will likely put some of the recipes I have received to use shortly after I get home.

Well, I prefer it in my cup. It really gets sticky on my hand and you
waste so much of it. Of course if pretty lady's would like me to
lick it off their hand, that might be different...

You're "getting some mead made"? Why not make it yourself? It is

fairly easy. I've never had a mead fail. Cider on the other hand...

Here's some info and directions on making your own mead. These are
in the BEVERAGES section of the Florilegium:

12-Step-Mead-art (16K) 6/15/08 "The Twelve Step Method to Making
Mead"
                                        by Master Rurik Petrovitch
Stoianov.
Hist-of-Mead-art (74K) 3/31/08 "A Brief History of Mead" by
Sorcha Prechan.
Mead-Mkng-Tps-art (9K) 6/23/05 "Mead Making Tips" by Byron
Whited.
mead-msg (170K) 7/ 5/04 Making mead. Honey based
alcoholic beverage.

Of course if you have to buy it commercially these reviews might
help. You have to be careful. I've seen bottles labeled "mead"
but
they were really grape wine flavored with some honey.
meadery-list-msg (26K) 4/ 4/02 Lists and reviews of commercial
meaderies.
