Greetings,
If you are heading down to Houston in the next month for an event, be sure to leave yourself time to view the current exhibit at the Houston Museum of Fine Art: 'Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul', on show till May 17th.

Indicative of the melting pot of the silk road, the exhibit shows roman glass, greek architectural elements and sculptures, pottery, india ivory carvings for furniture decorations and Scythian style gold jewelry from the famed Bactrian hoard, once thought lost after the recent Soviet wars.

GOLD! The display included massive numbers of tiny gold and turquoise pieces that were sewn onto the garments and large gold medalions, necklaces and crown that were found on five tombs of 1 male and 4 females around him. It was amazing stuff.

Be sure to make time for the show when in Stargate or Loch in the next month. The price is the general admission to the museum, no extra fees.

Cheers, Hillary Greenslade
