Hi, dear heart. It is good to hear from you, even under these devastating
circumstances.
It didn't come through to the list? I forwarded Ulf's post, with a copy
to myself, and it showed up fine in my own mailbox. (*sigh*!)
Ardie Lewis, SKA Lord Arthur FitzRichard, age 50. Fast stick, good-to-great
drummer, good friend for 30+ years. Hit from behind Wednesday afternoon
while riding his bicycle by a distracted driver, thrown 90 feet. The driver
swerved well off the main roadway onto the shoulder.
VEHICLE ONE: 2006 CHEVY DRIVEN BY XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 56 YOA NOT INJURED
VEHICLE TWO: 10-SPEED BICYCLE DRIVEN BY ARDIE LEWIS ADDRESS SHAWNEE
WHITE MALE 50YOA TRANSPORTED BY MEDICUS EMS TO SEMINOLE HOSPITAL WITH
MULTIPLE INJURIES LISTED CRITICAL CONDITION.
WHAT HAPPENED: VEHICLE ONE WAS NORTHBOUND ON SH3 AND VEHICLE TWO WAS
NORTHBOUND ON SHOULDER DRIVER OF VEHICLE ONE WAS DISTRACTED INSIDE THE
VEHICLE AND DROVE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND STRUCK VEHICLE TWO IN THE REAR
EJECTING THE DRIVER APPROXIMATELY 90 FEET FROM POINT OF IMPACT.
I feel really sorry for the driver; I'm quite certain that he is horrified
by what he has done. I sure wish he hadn't done it.
An impact that throws a body 90 feet -- probably a delta-vee of 50 to 60
miles/hour; call it about 100 feet/second -- just isn't survivable; neither
is the sudden stop. God rest him very merry.
He joins an awful lot of folks from the Barony, including Baron Bjorn,
Baroness Caitlin, Baroness Mairin, my late wife Mistress Roane, Lady
Khadija, her brother Lord Yo-Nah, and altogether too many others. I hope
they throw him a rousing huge welcome-home party.
Please feel free to forward to the Ansteorra list.
