One way to correct inside-out seams is to embroider the edges and hide them
that way. From what little research I've managed to do that was very
'period' (the embroidery, anyway).

I've sewn more sleeves on inside out than I care to remember. I've ripped
out miles of thread to correct ugly seams and crooked hems. I once took out
and reset a collar eight times before I got it right. It is part of the
learning process. We are all "poor sods" at some point.
