The Elizabethan period is the easiest to research of all those within
the S.C.A.'s purview. We've got mountains of portraits, plus written
materials and surviving garments to work from. Probably because of
this, there are several good sites on Elizabethan clothing that offer
reliable information and cite sources for it. If I were going to make
an Elizabethan outfit, I'd start with The Elizabethan Costume Page
<http://elizabethancostume.net> and The Renaissance Tailor
<http://www.renaissancetailor.com/>, and probably check Extreme
Costuming <http://www.extremecostuming.com/> to see if there happened
to be anything related to what I was making there. And I wouldn't
neglect Tudor and Elizabethan Portraits
<http://elizabethan-portraits.com/> or Elizabethan Portraits
<http://ladysarafina.home.att.net/elizabethan_portraits.htm>,
especially if I were trying to get a general feel for whether something
specific (like veils) was being worn in the period.

If I were going to make Elizabethan clothing on a regular basis, of
course, I'd buy _The Tudor Tailor_ <http://www.tudortailor.com/>. An
actual book that lays out researched patterns for my particular area of
interest? What a concept!
