There were several classes taught at this last Gulf Wars about dogs
and coursing. I am expecting to get some of the class handouts and
get them online in the Florilegium in the near future.

Included will be Mistress Rebecca with the Greyhound's article on
"How the Greyhound was used in the Medieval Hunt".

One of the others is on setting up a coursing course in the SCA.

In the meantime, here are a few files on dogs in the ANIMALS section
of the Florilegium:
coursing-SCA-msg (8K) 6/29/03 Coursing dogs in the SCA.
dogs-msg (66K) 11/26/04 Dogs. Barding for dogs. dog collars.
dogs-lnks (16K) 11/ 2/03 Medieval dog links by Dame Aoife
Finn.
medieval-dogs-art (20K) 9/ 1/07 "Introduction to Dogs in Our Period"
by Pavla de la Satu Mare.

Don't have a greyhound? Even small dogs can pull three times their
weight, compared to carrying 1/3 of their weight. Some of you may
have seen our 16 pound, white, very furry white American Eskimo dog
pulling a wooden wagon at various SCA events. He has helped
distribute water for the water bearers and hauled our feast gear
across a site.

Here is an updated version of the TI 2004 article which I based our
harness and tow bars on. This is in the TRAVEL section and covers how
to size these for your dog.

Dog-Carts-art (24K) 11/15/06 "Dog Carts and Draft Dog Training:
                                        Directions to Convert a
European Style
                                        Hand Wagon into a "Period"
Dog Wagon" by
                                        Lady Rachael of Bhakail.

And, of course, if anyone else has written any other articles on
medieval dogs or equipment or handling dogs in the SCA, I'd love to
have them for the Florilegium as well.
