Apparently they have become standard at academic confrences (or at least history oriented ones).
I've seen "calls" for them in the info for several conferences...
and the last History based confrence I attended had a slew of them in the "lobby"...

Hello everyone,

I think that this would be a good opportunity to point out that I loved the
backboard presentation that was included with the crawfish display.  It had
pictures and a small amount of information that summarized her research and
project well for my limited knowledge, interest, and attention span.  It
reminded me of the science fair and History Day projects we did in school,
where a summary and pictures were placed on a backboard, and the in-depth
information was given in the booklet.

I realize that the same information will be found in the documentation
booklet, but I usually will not read that when I'm just browsing through and
admiring the displays.  The information in the documentation is often more
in-depth than I want to know at the time (which is what *should* be there,
but I don't want to read the whole thing just for a basic idea of what the
artisan went through for their project).

I am NOT by any means recommending that backboards become required or
"strongly suggested." :)  I'm just saying that I appreciated the display
very much.  I learned more from her display than from any of the others.

Greetings Everyone,

Here are pictures from the Championship A&S contest at Gulf Wars. Upon
review, there were a few items not photographed, but it gives you a sample
of what was there.

I?ve added the Kingdom and name of the entry if I knew it. Another set has
pictures from Kingdom A&S in February.
