My husband has a pouch with a brass and copper piece on it that he got years ago. It was made by Duchess Athena. He keeps it shiny with something called Never Dull that he thinks that he got at Lowes or Home Depot. If your piece has dark green spots, it may have become pitted, in which case I'm not sure how well it will clean up.
I found this website which has something that looks promising. I haven't used it, but maybe someone out there has.
