[Ansteorra] Charters and Children's Activities

I absolutely agree with you.  I think that charters are a *great* way for beginners to start.  I paint them myself, occasionally.  I would certainly consider myself a beginner; I wasn't a scribe in the Outlands, and only did calligraphy a few times.  Perhaps I might have gone on to originals myself if I had had that base to guide me.  I certainly didn't have a light table, either.  I blocked out my calligraphy by hand with pencil, then *very* carefully erased it when it was completely dry.  I know that's the hard way, but I figured if those monks could do it by candlelight, then I should be able to do it with modern lighting!  I love the fact that the painters and artists are recognized.  Lastly, I am in perfect agreement that there is room for both in this our beloved Kingdom.  And keep up the good work with childrens' activites!  I used to do that in the Outlands, too.  I was their first Kingdom MoC.

In service to Crown and Kingdom,

Caterina Fregoso, O.L.

Subject: [Ansteorra] Charters and Children's Activities

As a beginner, I appreciate the chance to learn painting by doing charters.
It is also a great way for a beginner to decide if they have enough
aptitude to justify investing in a light table and other equipment so that
they can do original scrolls. I also feel that if I do mess up to the point that
the charter isn't good enough to be given out, at least I haven't messed up
someone's original work.  It is also nice that the creators of charters get
recognized in Court when the charters are given out.  So,  I think that there is a place
for both the charters and the original scrolls in our Kingdom.
