Don Robin as usual has made the point well and correctly.
I for one will be doing my best to support Their Royal Highnesses' desire to have authentic and courtly play during Their upcoming reign.

Long live the Prince
Long live the Princess

Long live Ansteorra

Rhiannon ferch Cian

This is the mark of two very noble and generous people.  They have listened and cared about what people thought.

In return for their gracious gesture, let all Ansteorrans look for ways to add the joy and persona play to their courts, that they may have the authentic and courtly play that they wish their reign to inspire for all of us.

Long live the Prince!
Long live the Princess!

>Unto the truly awesome Peers and Populace of Ansteorra, greetings from your Crown Prince and Crown Princess.
>
>It has always been our desire for all peers (who have the right to advise the Crown by kingdom law) and for all of the populace to know that we will listen when you bring us concerns. Given that our Coronation is still more than a week away (and we hope to see as many of you as possible there), we are surprised to have an opportunity to make that point so quickly.
>
>In the November Black Star (which some people have started receiving today), our herald published some information about our courts that we wanted all to know as we prepare for our reign to begin.  One of those items was a desire, based on our interpretations of our personas, that only people in fealty to us would wear arms into our court.
>
>We want all to know that this was an effort on our part to bring part of our persona play into our reign.  His Highness' persona lives among the warring and frequently treacherous Welsh principalities.  Her Highness lives among the intrigues, treachery and even poisonings and assassinations of Italian courts.  Caution is therefore a part of our persona play.
>
>However, one of our peers contacted us with concerns on this requirement.  Not least among the concerns was that this would violate kingdom law (specifically Section IV.4.A.).  It was our hope to, as every Crown does, bring some of our personality to the reign and we had thought this would be different.  It was not our intention to present people, peers, or our kingdom seneschal with an edict in violation of kingdom law.  Because the peers of this kingdom are familiar with its history, traditions, and laws, and because we will always be committed to listening to the populace, this issue can be caught quickly and resolved.
>
>Know one and all that we do revoke that requirement for our courts and courtly play.  Come to our courts, please do attend in your personas as much as you are able and have researched them, and have fun!  And know that we truly care for each of you and your experience in this great Society.
>
>Our herald will also publish a retraction of that point in the next Black Star.
>
>May you have as awesome a time during our reign as we hope to have while serving the kingdom.
>
>Owen and Genevria
>Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Ansteorra
