Greetings unto all in the glorious
Kingdom of Ansteorra!

With this missive does The Shire of Loch
Ruadh invite you all to attend our new event, The Shannon River Raids, to be
held October 22nd-24th in Hillsboro, Texas.

What pray tell do these raids offer? Why would you wish to venture
to this new event? Why that is obvious! Tournaments, Competitions, Feasting,
and REVELRY!

In Oct of 922, a Viking Jarl called Tomrair mac Ailchi—Thórir
Helgason led a fleet of 67 Long ships into the mouth of the Shannon River and
set up a permanent settlement. He then led the Limerick fleet on raids along
the River Shannon, from the lake of Lough Derg to the lake of Lough Ree,
pillaging ecclesiastical settlements, villages and towns.

Come help The Shire of Loch Ruadh recreate the invasion of Ireland
and the raids on the Shannon River.

Who will be the victor?  Will it be the fearsome Vikings or the
cunning Celts? Come and mix merriment with mayhem. Fight a foe and then toast them
at the bardic fire.

There are so many things to experience
at this event. We offer you a chivalric bear pit, archery shoots, a mirthful tavern
tournament, children’s activities, youth chivalric tournament, the famed Titled
Bard of Loch Ruadh Competition and a newly added Titled Artisan of Loch Ruadh competition.
That is right! You could be the Premier Titled Artisan of Loch Ruadh.  We will also be preparing a delicious
sideboard dinner that will be included with your site fee.

Please feel free to see the event
website at http://ninja-code.net/shannonriverraid/  for information.
