>From personal experience, I can tell you this does happen. Of course it was at Pennsic, so I just thought that the person didn't come from my kingdom and that things were done differently whereever they were from. I replied, "Dame Katja from Thescorre in AEthelmearc." and they looked mystified, said "Oh." and walked away. Granted it only happened the once, so it is (hopefully) rare.

Do people *REALLY* walk up to complete strangers and say "Hey, who's
your pel?" and then do nothing else?  I'm just not seeing it, and I'm
not exactly the most socialy adept creature to walk the face of the
planet.
