[Ansteorra] Newcomers

I agree, best so far. Instead of making newcomers more visible to everyone
we merely take an officially sanctioned SCA office and make it more
visible/accessible to newcomers instead.

For instance, when I set up waterbearing there is a very nice blue flag made
that has a large white circle and a blue water drop in the middle. Looks
like water and seeing the coolers and water bottles kinda speaks for itself.

So why not make a banner of such with our hospitaler emblem on it? Make a
spot on event sites as Newcomers Point or Hospitalers Point and have this
banner flying proud around it? Then merely coordinate with gate personnel
where this is being set up so that word can be put out there for people.

I've attached a pdf that shows what the Chatelaine/Hospitaler banner looks
like. Also our documentation can point out where this is located or just
what some of the symbols they might see actually mean. Another example is
the belt favor that our Chiurgeon wears. I wasn't exactly sure at first what
it meant, but the red and white looked familiar.

Again something that was a key to some of the official SCA symbols to have
on site would be helpful.

And I guess this means if we do not have such a banner right now, I am
volunteering to sew some together myself.

I think that the Hospitaler's ideas for a Newcomers Point is way better than
everything that's we've discussed so far. I'd be happy to help with that, in
whatever fashion is necessary (as long as it doesn't involve sewing). Please
let me know what can be done to help.
