Calling Artisans!

Come compete for the honor of being the next Titled Artisan of Bryn Gwlad!
Come compete for the honor of being the next Titled Bard of Bryn Gwlad!

When: Feb. 6th, 2010
(The weekend before Kingdom A&S, so the perfect opportunity to prefect your display or get early comments on your entry.)

More information can be found at: http://candlemas2010.swordworks.org/
There will be classes, fighting, a quest, and dancing among candle light.

Titled Artisan Competition:
The competition for the Artisan of Bryn Gwlad will be a single entry with documentation. Artisans are encouraged to bring items that fit the early Elizabethan theme of the event, but this is not required. The Kingdom judging sheets will be used to score the entries.

Senses Display:
A separate prize will be given for the display that appeals best to the five senses. Think beyond just the sense of sight. Does the item and the display appeal to the sense of touch, smell, sound, or taste? Be creative, think with your eyes closed, and never be scared about asking for a second opinion. Example: Written poem in calligraphy – make a recording of you reading the poem and leave it on the table.

Artisans wishing to submit a paper for the competition need to submit the paper to the current Bryn Gwlad Artisan, Mistress Hanna von Dahl by January 17, 2010. Papers should be displayed with the static pieces for others to read.

Youth Artisan Contest

There will be a youth A&S competition at the upcoming Candlemas February 6th, 2010 at Bryn Gwlad's Candlemas. The competition is open to any youth 12 years of age or younger.

This competition doesn't have a theme. Entrants can make toys or games, garb, decorations, camping gear. . .anything that strikes their fancy. They do have to submit documentation with their entries--at a minimum, a completed copy of the form at http://mehrkat.net/Vilhialmr/KidsAS/. It's only a quarter of a page long, just four questions.

The project will be judged by one of Bryn Gwlad's gifted artisans who will critique your work and provide feedback to help you with future projects. All the young artisans will have a chance to compete for the prize a toy chest with period playthings inside.

More information about setting up the displays very soon.

If you have any questions about the competition, please contact: Vilhialmr at sbcglobal.net.
