Greetings,

It is February 2nd, 1559, two months after Elizabeth I had ascended the throne upon the death of her sister "Bloody Mary" Tudor, but only two weeks since she had been crowned "Queen of England".  People are rejoicing as an oppressive reign ends and a brand new era of hope begins.  There are feasts all over the London as people rejoice in what is Elizabeth's first Candlemas.

Now, you can share in the festivities as Bryn Gwlad celebrates Candelmas 2010, dedicated to the joyous occasion that Elizabeth first experienced.  Rumors have it that Her Majesty England may also pay a visit.  Their Excellencies Bryn Gwlad will be choosing the next Baronial Bard and Artisan at this event, and there will be a sumptuous feast to delight the palette, with period dancing interspersed between removes.  Classes abound to enrich the mind.  We will also collect canned foods for the Food Bank, long since dwindled in supplies due to a greater than anticipated need during the previous year's Christmas holidays.  There is also a quest involving Queen Elizabeth's court, and a cut-and-thrust tourney for those who want to see what it's all about.

This exciting event will occur February 6th, 2010, at the San Gabriel Community Center located at 445 E. Morrow Street in beautiful Georgetown, TX.  For more information, such as fees, maps and class schedules, see the website:  http://candlemas2010.swordworks.org

Hope to see you soon,

Lord Johann Kiefer Haydon (Paul E. Kiefer, Jr.)
Plain ol' herald, 2010 Candlemas Steward (and tax man)
