[Ansteorra] Story from Crown Tourney

I would like to point out that not having heat problems even in much higher
heat than last weekend is a combination of better conditioning and keeping
hydrated. We have had several examples in the last decade of people who made
it to the semi-finals or above and who did not win because of their
conditioning. And many of them realized this and began working out (not just
fighter practice, but conditioning workouts) and kept with it. They also
pre-hydrated for a day or so before the next tournament and drank sufficient
fluids to keep going on the day of the tournament. And they were
subsequently successful. We call some of them Your Grace now.

If you want to be Crown, you need to invest your time in conditioning,
nutrition, and stamina building just like any other athlete. You need to
take care of your body before and during the tournament just like any other
athlete.

The only argument I can see is for the spectators. But they are also
responsible for their own health. The event had the use of a large air
conditioned area and plenty of potable water. The waterbearers were great
and everywhere. Spectators get to choose between watching everything or
getting cooled down when they need it. Without the adrenaline, that should
be an easy choice.

---------------------------------------------------------------
It requires Skill to fight. Those skills include
- Knowing how to call a shot.
-Knowing how to deliver a shot.
-Understanding your body.
Contenders for Crown need all of those skills. Making it to the finals
pretty much implies that one has honed those skills and others to a fine
edge. And frankly, Tomas proved that he could listen to what his body was
telling him. He recognized when it was time to ask "Am I ... " and he asked
it to the ONLY person that IMO he should listen to at that point, Rixende.
If you make it easy, it isn't worth doing. If I want to fight inside out of
the elements, I'll get a faster computer and play WoW.

Pax,
Ysfael
