[Ansteorra] Ideas for Outdoor A&S Events

Sir Lochlan brought up a point about holding A&S events outside with
pavillions. I think that for the right event at the right time of year,
it's a nice idea.

I was fortunate to be one of the coordinators for a Kings College that was
held outdoors with LOTS of pavillions.

There were definitely pros and cons to doing the event like we did. The
biggest complaint about having the event outside was that it was HOT AS
BLAZES. It was mid- June in North Texas-it goes with the territory. :-)

I think it was pretty cool that we had had different options for class rooms
(and the army of people who helped put up all those pavillions were
wonderful, too).

Temperature wise, I think that a spring or fall A&S event/collegium could
feasibly be held outside with enough logistical planning.

I've never been to a war, so I could be talking out of my ear on this one,
but I know that both Gulf Wars and Pennsic have TONS of classes on lots of
subjects (which is a big reason why I want to attend one when I have enough
money to go). Aren't the majority of these classes held outside?

Before moving to Ansteorra, I played in the Barony of the Far West (Japan).
One of my first events out there was the Baronial A&S competition, and it
was held outside under a picnic pavillion.

Just some more food for thought.

Regan-who is enjoying the constructive/positive discussion. :-)
