I was unsure if it would work on scanned images.  I will give it a shot. Thanks so much.

In all seriousness, an interesting experiment would be to use Google's
translation service:

http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en

It does translate Welsh to English.  Of course, you have two things going
against you.  First, machine translation is far from perfect.  Second,
Google translates modern Welsh.  What you have is pretty old.  In addition
to linguistic changes, it may be full of abbreviations that are no longer
used.  So, your results would definitely be less than scholastic (probably
much closer to reality than my b.s. though).  But, it would be an
interesting experiment.

Well that certianly clears things up. I was thinking he was the Wikipedia
Wise Guy.  Still looking for guidance for understanding my latest
discovery.  Finding medicinal text is such a treat, now just have to figure
out how to devour it.

Wow what a total contrived work of fiction...very funny but also kind of
say. It makes me concerned how many people would believe it especially if it
were posted on a Wikipedia page.

Kindly

Actually, the term hill-billy comes from Japan.  During the war of 1548,
when the Japanese invaded Scotland over shipping right disputes, the
Japanese use Willy as a slang term for Scotsman.  The impression was that
all Scots were named Will.  Of course, genealogy records of the time show
this to be completely false; only 87% of Scotsman were actually named Will.
Anyway, due to the phonetics of Japanese, they actually pronounced it Billy.
And, since Scotland is quite hilly, especially in contrast the vast deserts
of Japan, they called them hill-billies.

The term was brought to America during the 1900's by Japanese immigrants.
It became widely adopted in the US during the WWII, when Scotland refused to
enter the war under conscience objection.  Hence, the association of
hill-billies as stupid and lazy eventually developed.

So does that qualify you as a "hillbillie"?

Welsh, that is something I haven't heard in a while.  Here is the story.
Countless attempts have been made to understand Welsh over the centuries.
None have succeeded.  Currently, most linguists simply consider Welsh as a
hoax.  However, as you might expect, there are those that suspect that it is
an alien language, possibly introduced by visitors from the Gamma Aradon
(spelling?) system.  Personally, I believe John Dee invented it for England
to help distract the Irish during the conflicts over whether men should be
allowed to marry their first cousins.  The Irish lost and as such I remain
single.

Found this wonderful site from the Oxford library that has 80 scanned
manuscripts.  One is a 15th century Welsh text on medicine. Any suggestion
on how to translate/ transcribe it?

Here is the website if it is not already in your bookmarks.
