Yes. They also did without car seats on the way to events. Also, people in the real medieval ages did without a lot of things, as well. What's your point?

Somehow, the folks in the Middle Ages and Renaissance (or, for that 
matter, in the SCA for the first fifteen or twenty years) managed to 
keep their kids amused *without* electronic devices. I wonder how 
they managed to do that?
