The Battle of Three Commanders. October 1-3

Hawkins County (RV) Park, 156 CR 3455, Hawkins, TX‎ - 903-769-4545‎.

Located East of Dallas (past Mineola) & West of Hawkins off Hwy 80 on CR
3455*. *Look for the SCA signs.

Amenities ~* *

There are two bathhouses with showers, toilets, and a large tenting area
with lots of trees.  There are water taps scattered throughout the area.  RV
sites are available at andditional charge.  Swimming in the lake is
permitted but children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  The site is
wet with period containers.  Pets must be leashed per site
requirement. Particulars

The theme this year is anything to do with the Sea, Elizabethan, Privateers
or the countries from which the Principals represent.

Documentation is required for A&S. For Performing Arts participants
will  perform
song, story, or poem, four minute limit,

with written documentation preferred but oral accepted.

There will be three teams one for each Commander. The “Quest” will be a
series of questions on cards to be answered by various people

at the event and a Treasure (one representing each commander) to be located.
There will be teams for each Commander as well

and the team with the most treasures and the most questions right will win
the War Point.

*First Scenario**:*  *Chivalric* fighters will battle at the Castle to
defend the Isle of Wight. *Rapier* fighters will be fighting from ship to
ship trying to win the ship and avoid falling in the dreaded Sea.

*Second Scenario**:* *Chivalric* fighters will be fighting on the ships. *
Rapier* fighters will have a Field Battle defending English homeland from
any forces that might get past the seafaring defenders, while the invaders
attempt to win the castle.

*Third Scenario**:*  *Chivalric* fighters will have a Field Battle. *Rapier
*fighters will be assaulting the Castle.  **

The first scenario will involve two teams of riders, the couriers

and the pursuers. This will be a running mounted crest melee in which the
couriers try to deliver dispatches to four outposts while the pursuers try
to stop them. The winning teams will receive magnificent prizes provided by
Lord Ferghus Khan.* *

The second will be a 'Pillage the Village' scenario where a single rider
runs a timed course involving mounted archery, Saracen heads, sticking
plague rats, stealing livestock, and making off with the tavern wench. This
course will be for the War Point. The designated Commander of the winning
Equestrian will receive the point.

*T*he Archers’ Commander has charged these Archers to guard needed supplies
and loot aboard a ship. On the voyage the ship

is set upon by privateers, the helmsman is killed and the ships wheel is
spinning out of control. Four Shoots will save the mission.

to the winning Commander, Chest will be located at the Armor inspection
Site.

July to September 1588

The Spanish Armada, had attempted to rendezvous with its army and invade
England to depose the heretic Elizabeth I.

The Armada waited in vain for the Duke of Parma's army to arrive at Calais.
The English Navy using fireships

caused the Armada's ships to cut anchor and escape into the North Channel.


Meanwhile in Ireland the Irish Pirate Queen Grainne was losing her hold over
the waters of Cley Bay to the English

and traveled to England for an audience with the Queen, hoping to regain her
rights.

What ifs ?

What if the Duke of Sidonia Medona did not escape into the North Channel and
followed King Phillips plan to invade England,

but the Privateer Sir Francis Drake was there to try to stop him?

What if the Pirate Commander Grainne Ui Mhaille, seeking release of her
hostage son and her ships, came to present her case before Elizabeth I,

and found herself in the middle of a war? (What could a pirate do?)

What if The 3 Commanders had been able to deploy the Grapple Hook and then
Rapier fighters from each ship fought on decks and gangplanks

with the treacherous ocean waiting to swallow them up?

What if the Spanish Armada and Grainne assaulted the English Castle from
their ships using archers and siege weapons ?

And what if they landed and all 3 commanders met in an open field battle?


Then we could have the Battle of Three commanders.
