The BBC news Web site, <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/>, usually has a
link to a short travel article: a few paragraphs about some great
place or another, how to get there, activities, sites, et cetera.

Today's, at
<http://www.bbc.com/travel/feature/20110330-travelling-to-acre-now-and-in-1272-ad>,
is a touch different. The first part and larger is advice on
travelling to Acre ... in A.D. 1272, while it's the capital of
Outremer.

"What to take with you

"A decent pair of shoes are essential if you take the overland route
across Christendom, then down through Anatolia and Cilicia - though
frankly that's so First Crusade. Besides, all the cities worth
looting, such as Constantinople, have already been pillaged by your
forefathers, so we highly recommend a sea crossing in this day and
age."

and "Those who are in the military orders - Templars, Hospitallers and
Teutonics - will be able to stay in their own preceptories."

And so on. The second page is visiting the city of "Akko" in some
revived country called "Israel". It is much shorter and of much less
interest.
