There are numerous accounts of Kings and Queens gambling. The debts, and who was owed what, are usually listed in the household accounts. There is even one showing Henry VIII paying one of Anne Bolyn's gambling debts. (Before they were married.)

Did period Royalty gamble? Examples?
If they lost, did they pay up? It seems like getting the king to pay  
p, if he lost might be rather difficult to enforce.
I seem to remember that if you loaned money to the king, you might not  
et repaid, at least in money.
