I believe that there are stickers for identifying trailers issued when
you pick up your parking pass. I know that we do it for merchants. I
think that a lot of people don't think about it when they get there
and are checking in or see it as an additional piece of paperwork and
don't fill it out or ask for one. The primary purpose is to be able to
find the owner in the event something happens but it would be easy to
make sure the information matches the hang tag when someone is leaving
with a trailer. There is usually someone at the exit gate checking for
site tokens anyway. There shouldn't be too many people leaving during
the week with a trailer so the high traffic days would be early and
late in the week. Maybe adding the license plate in large letters that
matches the sticker to the hang tag will make it faster for the gate
people. I think most of the information is written in small letters
that you have to be close to read.
I believe the tools are there, it is just a matter of adding it to the
duties of the person(s) at the exit gate.
There are numerous issues with keeping the trailers attached to
vehicles...especially when we can't get everyone to follow the parking
rules now. If we add segregated trailer parking that accommodates a
variety of vehicle+trailer lengths, then we will increase the parking
cluster instead of decreasing it, imo.
Just my two cents,
Ysabeau
