[Ansteorra] $7 Pennsic camp fee

Or more likely it would fall on the individual organizing and
obtaining all the communal stuff. Because making one person pay an
extra couple hundred bucks is soooo much more reasonable than asking
everyone to pitch in $7. I know you're saying that it isn't about the
amount of money, but it is. There is a big difference between asking
everyone to share a small portion of the burden and asking one person
to take on the whole lot and hope people "donate" to defray the cost.
That might seem more "fair" to the majority, but it could be really
sucktastic for that one person and/or the kind few that choose to help
out. That's how we burn people out and lose volunteers.

I have to ask, if you never want to sit at the communal fire, why do
you want to camp with that group? And while you may not ever use the
communal trash receptacles yourself, I bet you'd be really
disappointed about how your encampment looks if they were not
available for all to use. If it is more important to you to be
self-sufficient than to contribute to group services why not just make
your own space in the singles camping area? Camping with the Kingdom
you live in is not some god-given right, nor is it an obligation to
camp with the group to be part of the war effort, and there are many
kingdoms where having this option is not the norm. In other kingdoms
you are not "entitled" to this benefit. Ansteorrans are lucky to have
a small enough group going that they can accommodate everyone who
wishes to camp with them. Many of the closer kingdoms cannot.

Might I humbly suggest another option instead of just complaining
about it... if you are so concerned about people making a decision on
your behalf that you do not agree with, why not volunteer to do this
job next year and see what services you can trim from the budget so
there is no camp fee? Or at the very least, offer an alternative
suggestion yourself? What services do you think the group can live
without, what services, if any, are required, and how should the most
vital services be funded/supplied if not by a flat-rate fee? How will
you organize the collection of fees if it is not a simple flat-rate
fee? Or are you suggesting that this come out of the Kingdom's budget?
If it were to come out of the kingdom's budget I think I could make a
far more compelling argument about taxing people who are not using the
services since MOST Ansteorrans are not camping with Ansteorra at
Pennsic, heck, most of us are not lucky enough to even go to Pennsic.

Also, I don't understand your complaint about not allowing people to
make decisions for you. Are you saying that if there were a solution
that most participants had agreed to (by a democratic vote if one
could be had) that it would still not be acceptable to you? Or would
you be willing to go along with the majority? Are you upset that this
was not discussed and voted upon, or are you wanting every single
person to be able to make their own decisions, regardless of the needs
of the group or the decision of the majority?

I'm not trying to be a s*** disturber here, I honestly don't
understand your position and am asking for clarification.
