A Middle English spelling of what Modern English has as "flower",
according to the documentation that was put forward on the Ansteorran
Letter of Intent [to register at Laurel]. Middle English Dictionary
at
http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/m/mec/med-idx?type=byte&byte=58670621&egdisplay=compact&egs=58681437

(I do like "(c) the emblem of one of two parties among the devotees of
courtly love (opposed by the party of the Leaf); lef or ~, etc;")

(Given the purpose of the award, I think it likely that Flur is
intended to refer to a flower. However, in general the documentation
on a LoI does not necessarily match the meaning that the submitter
is thinking about.)
