I'm feeling remiss for skipping over the bridge thought between one of the
earlier discussions and my synthesized answer. So, to go back just a little
bit, I'll rephrase a question asked earlier:

Is there a way we can get a non-legalese paragraph - a "what this means to
you" translation - of the charters _next to_ the charters? Who would be the
correct person/office to have write these paragraphs?  We already have a
resource in place that could be a very appropriate platform for that: the
Ansteorran Wiki.

The existance of that kind of accessibility would allow people who haven't
been around for X number of years, or haven't achieved a specific level of
formal recognition, to still have a good handle on what features they
should be looking for - both in writing recs and also in simply recognizing
the respectability (honorability, nobility) of our friends all around us.
