I beleive anyone can get a background check as a
Minister-of-children-at-large.
Yes, you can pay for it yourself, just send the money to the kingdom with
the paperwork.

It takes any where from a little while to a long while to get it back
depending on it everything works thru the system, as it should. There are
many places something can get dropped even by accident.

The check expires every two years which is about the length of a term of
office. It can be done again the same way.

Check with the current seneschal for the current price but it is not
onerous for one or two; but adds up quickly when you look at the total
numbers of potential officers.
