[Ansteorra] Banning children??

Thanks Claire for bringing us down to reality again. While I do not think the idea of banning children and in effect many of our future members was ever taken seriously it does serve a purpose. It motivates us to find ways to keep children safer (all in all I think we do very well) and it causes us to think of ways to keep the SCA out of liability. Hopefully it will get parents to keep a closer eye on their children. As someone with no children but always invites them to archery I can objectively say that from what I see over 90% of the parents keep control of their children which is an outstanding number for an organization like ours.

I do not think that banning children was ever a serous proposal; merely a
food for thought exercise. I think it worked.
Children are part of what we do.
We can put rules in place to help us help keep them and us safer; but they
won't solve all problems.
We can and will recover from this as a society.
Let's move on to more productive conversations that have come from this
exercise and stop feeding the idea that children could be banned.
