Really? That's where you're setting the bar? If that was the case I
can't think of a lot of changes that would have made it through. When
women fighters were introduced I'm sure there were a number of men who
were "hurt" by having to choose between striking a woman and conceding
a loss. When we introduced the NMS I'm sure some participants were
"hurt" by the extra financial burden. When we introduced the 2-deep
rule around minors I'm sure some youth programs were "hurt" by a
shortage of volunteers for some activities.
I think what we should be aiming for is a decision that inflicts the
least amount of hurt, whether that results in change or maintaining
the status-quo. So in the case of the 2-deep rule, we decided that the
potential loss of a couple activities was less hurt than leaving open
possibilities of even one child being scarred for life. In the case of
female fighters we decided some men would have to compromise their
code of honor so that women would not be hurt by standing on the
side-lines. And in the case of the NMS, some of our participants can
now attend fewer events, but the corporation as a whole has the funds
necessary to continue.

Good sir, might I propose that this effect could be experienced either
direction the decision goes. Some will be hurt enough by the
possibility of a single-sex ruling couple that they may walk away.
Others might be so offended at the closed-mindedness of our
organization that they choose not to play with us any more. This is a
polarizing issue that has the potential to drive away good people no
matter which way it goes.
