[Ansteorra] Heraldic Question

While at Gulfwar this year we submitted our names and devices. I was also able to submit for my badge however my Lord Thorkell's had a conflict. It was suggested if he split the field on the charge horizontally it may work. The question he had was whether or not this was possible vertically. 

I would greatly appreciate any response to this question off list.
