With the cost of connectivity and mass email programs these days, all it 
takes is approximately a 1 in 250,000 return to make this sort of scam 
profitable. I deal with this ludicrousness every day. Believe it or not, 
at least once or twice a year a highly-placed US government official 
will fall for the 419 (Nigerian money laundering) scam. It's frightening 
and outrageous.
