While I don't know of any problems related to that chemical, let me point
out that Baking Soda is also an excellent fire retardant. Before people run
off half cocked, alarmism pays very well in a litigious society.  Do we
have a case of some moron trying to make a buck, or a legitimate claim of
hazard?

I do drink gatorade, but find products like Nuun much better as t doesn't
have all the carbs and dyes in it.
