That is correct.  Bear and Catherine wore them at their Cornation and for the most part they have remained in the boxes since then.  They are extremely large and ornate which makes wearing them for any length of time difficult.  Crowns are also very fragile and tend to drop pearls and gems when bumped.

If memory serves, the Imperial Margarine Crowns were constructed by Baron Elric 
de Swansea and his brother HL Malaki David Dracwine and debuted at the 
coronation of Bear and Catherine.
