[Ansteorra] Things to get newcomers

I know it is hard to do SCA on a small income. That is myproblem now. I guess I just need to be one of those thread-bare nobility thatRomance novels are always talking about. But back 15 years ago and further backwe had a need for new people. As an autocrat doing the 4th event I had to getpeople to help who were not doing the other 3 events, i.e. new people. 
 
I helped them with getting to events and site fees andgot them going. They would help me with my events and then were usually stolenby friends. Those people didn't like new people but once I got them and taughtthem how to interact they were not "new" anymore. 
 
We need reasons for people to seek out new people andhelp them. I am sorry for that but it is true. 
 
Today most people in the SCA have enough friend andstable friendship groups. They really do not need any more people. Peopleworking on projects need new people and when new people meet other new peoplewhile working on things they found their own social groups and when it isfilled they stop looking for more people. It is like atoms. 
 
To keep a group going the leadership, B&B, officers,Peers, and Noble and interested people, need to be generating new things towork on. Things that have been done in the past usually have been"claimed" by other people and they feel "hurt" if they aremessed with. That is why we need new little events and a freeform 4th event. 
 
If a group of "new" people do something and itlooks like fun and certain amount of "old" people will want to tryit. Now they are the ones trying to work with the New people and that makes thenew people equal to the old people. The old people, who only have only so muchtime for the SCA will look around for someone to keep their project alive whilethey work on something new. A person who has been waiting to get into the oldgroup will be chosen and now they are needed. 
 
The system keep growing and changing. People are notbored and they find the SCA exciting no matter how long we have been in. 
 
We need to find reasons for people to need and want new peopleenough so they will help them out.
