[Ansteorra] Demo Opportunity?

While I would LOVE to be able to accept this invitation, unfortunately, I
will be in Jamaica during this time on a family vacation. And I know that
while Steppes Warlord is a major event that people plan on each year, there
are many of us that will not be able to attend due to many constraints
(time, finances, gas prices, automobile reliability, etc.). 

I believe that this is a wonderful opportunity for the SCA to attract new
people, and wish I were available to give classes on Wood burning
(Pyrography) to the participants.  This is the type of exposure that we need
as "Comic Cons" such as these are generally attended by people who secretly
want to find a group that does more than "just read the comics."

Greetings all,

In my capacity as Hospitaler I recently received an email suggesting
that we look into a demo opportunity at Comicpalooza being held here
in Houston on Memorial Day weekend. Now, I know that goes up against
Steppes Warlord but I thought I'd check it out anyway. Here is part of
the response I received back from John, the main organizer:

"Sounds like fun! We need to know a few things first, such as how much
space you would require, how long the event would last, if there are
any other events you'd like to present (such as sword fighting 101,
How to Talk Like an Anachronism, craft workshops, or anything else you
might like to do to engage the public) We would also need to know how
many people would be involved in putting on the presentation(s)."

He is very enthusiastic about our participation and I wanted to see if
those of us who are not able to make it to Steppes might be interested
in this.

What do y'all think?
