[Ansteorra] The poor sad remnant of the SCA

Vigdis,
I have to say, to me the events are still magical, I still have fun, and the
society does exactly what I needed it to do - get me away from my mundane life,
where I have 2 handicapped parents to take care of, a Master's degree to study
for, other people's taxes to prepare, and basically everyone else's problems to
deal with. And I'm not a newcomer. I've been around for 14 years now. I think
the thing is that some people are not taking away what we are.
I still love the SCA. I still love being a different person. That's what I was
looking for when I joined. And I still get that. The mundane problems are just
that - mundane problems. And I ignore them.

Subject: [Ansteorra] The poor sad remnant of the SCA
I have been reading these discussions with interest. There are a lot
of great ideas, and I hope that many of them are implemented. But as a
relative newcomer I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I AM having fun; the
events ARE magical; court is FULL of pageantry; and I've met with LOTS of
chivalry and courtesy. I gather that it used to be better, and I guess I'm
kind of naive ... but I think what we've got is still pretty great.
