If you are going to Gulf War and your house will be empty while you are
gone (including no pets)  you might consider turning your thermostat WAY
down before you go.  Not so low your pipes will freeze (if you are in an
area where that is a possibility) but well below were you normally keep
it.  This could save you a little money on your next utility bill and be a
little greener at the same time.

To save a little gas on the road (and wear on your tires) , check your tire
pressure on the way out.

It's just a few dollars but it is also a small effort.
