There were no thefts reported in the merchant area this year. I serve as
the informal security for midnight madness and I did not see anyone with
"nightsticks." We keep a rather careful eye on the merchant area. The
only mundanes there were KAR staff and Larry's guests.
The thefts to which I believe you are referring took place last Fall,
and were mostly limited to the permanent structures on the periphery of
the site, including our storage containers and the Early Period Life,
NOVA, and Clan Gambit areas. No merchant losses were involved, as there
were no merchants there. They were very sad losses, as you say, but
realistically there was not much we could have done to prevent them. KAR
is a large site surrounded by woods with lots of cover and near a major
Interstate. That's a recipe for late-night theft.
I personally feel the benefits of Gulf Wars far, far outweigh the risks,
however, and dealing with risk is what I get paid for in the mundane world.
Also: please turn on your spell check.
